Horsemanship coaching, riding instruction and groundwork training.

I offer both riding and groundwork training in Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, helping you work through problems or just on making things feel better, smoother and more positive. Whether you want try some liberty work, teach your horse to come to the mounting block or ride more through feel and understanding, I can help you put the steps in place to achieve that. I’m always happy to pick up the phone to regular clients and discuss their training between lessons free of charge. It’s important to not get stuck and know you have support when you need it.

I currently have limited weekend availability. Please get in touch to get booked in.

I am of course fully insured and can provide details if needed. I regularly attend CPD events and webinars to stay up to date with the latest research in equine behaviour, learning and training. I regularly consult my own network of riding instructors, saddle fitters and osteopaths etc. to make sure I am staying informed and continuously growing my knowledge of equine health and welfare. We are all on a journey!

Ridden coaching including bitless, all aimed at making sure you and your horse feel confidence and trust in each other.

teaching a horse to come to the mounting block

Groundwork and liberty coaching; achieve things like your horse lining up at the mounting block and waiting for you to get on!

I am to provide a supportive and kind service where you and your horse will be listened to!

I know that getting started with less traditional methods of horse training can be really daunting. I started out worried about being laughed at if it went wrong (or even if it didn’t!), told I was being pathetic, or scared of my horse for not just cracking on and kicking on. Plus, there’s so many things to think of at once when we embrace new methods of horse training so it can be easy to get disheartened and confused. That’s absolutely ok. Learning how to communicate with another species in a way that doesn’t compromise their welfare probably isn’t going to be easy and we are all on a journey, no matter how good we might already be. It’s absolutely fine to recognise that.

Prices:

Initial consultation: Up to two hours, including a follow up report and suggested plan; £50 + 45p a mile after 10km travel from either Brackley or Buckingham (whichever is most cost effective for you).

Ongoing sessions: £30 for 45 minutes to an hour + travel as above. Travel can of course be split between multiple people if there are few of you at the same yard. A full hour might be difficult for horses who are just starting out, 30-40 minute lessons can be arranged if so.

Virtual horse training consultations: Sometimes what you really need is a friendly face, a sounding board and someone to consult for a different perspective. I offer an initial free 20 minute video call consultation service. If you decide to carry on further sessions are £20 per hour.
